Renaissance

Project: Renaissance People of Today

Website of Renaissance Project

"Make It Happen!" research framework by Education Development Center, Inc. will be used to pursue problem-based inquiry. Student teams will pursue the theme "Who are the Renaissance people of today?" as they identify the leading figures/people who have played or are playing instrumental role in the advancement of the world. Renaissance projects will begin in March of 1999 and conclude in May.

4 teachers and 105 sixth grade students will participate in the project. Projects will culminate in a variety of products, includeing student developed web sites, multimedia presentations, and news segments for school video distribution.

Goals for students to be achieved with this project:

  • To improve students' abilities to ask questions, explore information, analyze data, and create deeper understanding and insight into curricular topics
  • To gain experience with cutting edge technologies as they perform authentic tasks to create contemporary products that use technology and respond to student interest
  • To model life-long learning as a desirable endeavor for the students
